There are lots of folks who have leaky petcocks but they are able to fix them readily and inexpensively with a rebuild kit. For gas to end up in the engine oil, two things need to fail. First, the petcock must fail and let fuel into the carb when the bike is shut off. Second, the carb float valve must fail.

To my luck I bought a VTX 1300c and now at 20k on it I would like to change out the final drive oil. You guys that are changing every 2,000 miles to 5,000 miles should really consider having that used oil tested just once to see actually how well that oil is and how your engine is doing. If you look closer at oil grades for use in high temps, you'll see 20/50. I never use less then this. Get the best brand avail. Castrol, and brands in this class.
