Re: Replacing steering cables on Mercury XR2 Black Max 150 (56k beware) That's a teleflex dual rack system. The cables are no longer available. Replace system would be a teleflex NFB dual rack. Dual rack is the minimum steering for that engine on anything but a barge.

Your adding 6 gal of fuel with a quart of oil made roughly a 25:1 mix. Add that fat mixture to another 12 gal of 50:1 might average out to about 37:1 total.The Mercury factory service manual says 18* at cranking speed for standard 150's and 22* for XR2's. If your module was just an idle stabilizer, it will have no impact on max advance timing keeping it at 17* in the high rpm range. Your engine has a idle stabilizer, a black box on the front top of the engine. Disconnect it and set the timing in the water where it will idle at about 750 rpm in gear.
